This apartment renovation, in Jerusalem, is located steps away from the historic Old City. The main living area is designed as a single, open space containing the living room, kitchen, and sitting room – all with views of the Old City walls. The space opens onto an expansive terrace, for easy access to outdoor living, with a strategically placed screen planting to provide privacy and keep the eye focused on the view.

The interior materials and color palette reflect the buff-colored Jerusalem stone walls, mandated by the city ordinance for all building exteriors. A new, half-round stair of bent and curved steel plate and white oak veneer form the heart of the apartment, connecting all three floors. The stair is backed by a light-colored, cleft finish marble and flanked by matching oak veneer wall paneling.
